Sterling C. Robertson Dam

V&A Consulting Engineers, Inc. (V&A) was retained by Stantec Consulting Services Inc. (Stantec) to evaluate corrosion control options for the proposed replacement of five (5) Tainter gates at Brazos River Authority’s (BRA) Sterling C. Robertson (SCR) dam. This study included corrosion control options for impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) and galvanic current cathodic protection (GCCP) systems and zebra mussel resistant coatings with a design service life of 40 years.

As part of the evaluation, V&A conducted a visual observation of the gates, reviewed historical reports, collected water samples to determine the corrosivity of the environment, and collected samples for the presence of microbially induced corrosion bacteria. V&A is currently designing the GCCP system and developing the performance specification for the GCCP system.
